Representativeness, diversity, relevance, and participation: a review of the largest Abrasco Congress in history

The first CSP editorial of 2026 issues a direct and urgent call: “It is time to address structural deficits, modernize skills, combat underfunding, and tackle regional, cross-cutting, and intersectional inequalities.”

Based on the 14th Abrascão—Democracy, Equity, and Climate Justice: Health and Confronting the Challenges of the 21st Century—the manuscript highlights the strength and diversity of Brazilian Public Health.

There were over 10,000 participants, representing the entire country, reaffirming Abrasco’s historic role as a catalyst for ideas, struggles, and transformations.

Against a backdrop of democratic challenges, deepening inequalities, and intensifying climate crises, the Editorial emphasizes the need for collective action.
