A portrait of electronic nicotine delivery systems use in Brazil: findings from the 2019-2023 Vigitel survey

🚭 An article published in CSP analyzes national data on the use of electronic smoking devices (ESDs) and identifies a higher prevalence of use among young men, people with higher levels of education, residents of the Midwest and South regions, as well as individuals who engage in excessive alcohol consumption, conventional smoking, and spend more time daily in front of screens.

📊 The results show that lifetime use increased from 6.7% in 2019 to 7.3% in 2021, with high rates persisting mainly among adults aged 18 to 24.

By identifying the sociodemographic and behavioral factors associated with e-cigarette use, the study contributes to strengthening prevention strategies and more targeted public policies, which are essential for curbing the spread of these devices.
