International Day of Women and Girls in Science

👩🏽‍🔬 On this International Day of Women and Girls in Science (February 11), we revisit articles and editorials from CSP that help shed light on these inequalities and point the way toward transforming them. Promoting a more pluralistic, diverse, and inclusive science is an ongoing commitment.

Over the course of its four decades, Cadernos de Saúde Pública has published fundamental reflections on the presence of women in the workforce, in science, and in the production of knowledge. From studies in the 1980s on the female workforce in the health sector to more recent debates on gender equity, race, and diversity in scientific publishing, these texts reveal significant progress.

Women continue to be in the majority in care-related fields, but remain underrepresented in leadership positions, in editorial decision-making, and in the recognition of their professional trajectories, especially when motherhood, racism, and other forms of oppression intersect.
