Workplace Accidents Among Delivery Drivers
An article reveals that 44.1% of delivery drivers suffered at least one workplace accident in 2022. The prevalence was even higher among younger workers (54.6%), those who work seven days a week (50%), and those who work more than ten hours a day (49.1%).
Most accidents (82.8%) occurred in traffic, highlighting the high vulnerability of these workers. Furthermore, conflicts with clients and the lack of support from platform companies were factors that significantly contributed to this scenario.
“This population that works in the streets is becoming a particularly vulnerable group as victims of traffic accidents,” the authors state. The findings reinforce the need for public policies and intersectoral actions to promote safer and more dignified working conditions for this category.
