Temperature-Mortality Relationship in the Population
This study analyzes how geographic, urban, and socioeconomic factors influence this relationship in 42 metropolitan regions. The results indicate that cold weather has a greater impact than heat on non-accidental mortality, especially among the elderly and in the South and Southeast regions of Brazil.
Furthermore, latitude, average temperature range, income, and education were identified as modifiers of this effect. The findings reinforce the need for local adaptive policies to minimize the risks of temperature variation on public health.
