Graduate studies in Collective Health in Brazil: trajectories, evaluation, and challenges

In the latest issue of *Perspectivas de CSP*, the authors highlight the strategic role of graduate programs in Public Health in strengthening the SUS. It is in this space that research intersects with the public health system and scientific knowledge translates into concrete improvements in patient care.

In 2025, the field reached a historic milestone: 101 graduate programs nationwide. More than just numerical growth, this marks the consolidation of a scientific field that generates knowledge to inform public policy, address inequalities, and understand the social determinants of the health-disease process.

💬 The text also offers important reflections on current challenges: the need for evaluations that prioritize the social impacts of research, rather than just the number of articles; the development of educational programs committed to the SUS; and the need to address the racial and social inequalities still present in graduate education.
