EDITORIAL MARCH 2025
Without a clear definition, predatory journals are characterized by deceptive practices, lack of transparency, and a lack of rigor in article evaluation, posing a growing threat to scientific publishing.
The new Editorial in CSP discusses the dangers of predatory journals, provides examples of malpractice, and points to tools such as checklists and guides developed by scientific institutions that can aid in evaluation.
“We cannot ignore the essence of the problem: the industry itself. This branch of business is obviously attractive to all kinds of unscrupulous dealers and traders,” emphasize the co-editors-in-chief of CSP.
The Editorial also highlights that the diamond open access model, in which neither authors nor readers pay, is an ethical and secure alternative for the dissemination of science, promoting quality and transparency.
